Pamporovo is our sunniest winter resort, the third most popular ski resort in Bulgaria. It is located in the mystical and beautiful nature of the Rhodopes. 220 km south of Sofia, 85 km south of Plovdiv. Winter in Pamporovo is mild, without sharp temperature amplitudes and without danger of avalanches. The snow cover reaches 140-150 cm. The most important thing is that more than 100 sunny days prevail in the period December-March.
The general Pamporovo-Mechi chal ski area has 39 km of slopes for alpine disciplines of various difficulties, 30 km. cross-country tracks, multiple ski schools and lockers. Almost all ski slopes in Pamporovo start from Snezhanka peak, at an altitude between 1400 m and 1926 m. The slopes for beginners and intermediate skiers predominate, which is why Pamporovo is very suitable for families and training children.
The Grand Monastery is located in the ski center of Pamporovo – the town of Studenets, only 80 m from the main ski lift to Snezhanka tower.
Living up to its name, the Grand Monastery consists of 5 buildings with a warm connection of stairs and escalators. In its upper part, the complex has an exit to the ski slope leading to Studenets.
